Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is the practice of alleviating pain, trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures by addressing fascial restrictions.

It is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

What is the fascial system?

The fascial system a continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption. Each part of the entire body is connected to every other part by the fascia, much like the yarn in a sweater or a spider’s web. It is very densely woven, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein, as well as, all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord.

What happens during treatment?

Myofascial release is performed directly on the skin, without oils or creams. Your therapists will gently detect restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.

Is myofascial release right for me?

The treatments we offer are beneficial for most people, however there are some conditions that mean we may not be able to use certain techniques. Your therapist will ask you to complete a health questionnaire as part of your initial consultation so that they can identify any potential risks and modify technique accordingly. If you have any concerns, we always recommend that you consult your GP or other healthcare professional before booking an appointment.
