Paula McFarlane

My career in the Sport and Leisure industry began in 1993. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of coaching and working with athletes competing at national and international level in swimming and triathlon. I have also done a great deal of work with the Armed Forces, undertaking remedial and recovery programmes.

I was always interested in working out why some people struggle with muscle injury and fatigue more than others. I was intrigued by the relationship between common injuries and repetitive actions and / or poor posture.  I also noticed how minor aches and pains could lead to more chronic symptoms.

I wanted to make a difference!

In 1997, I completed my certificate in Management and Treatment of Sports Injuries with the Football Association. Since then, I have gone on to study sports massage and a number of other complementary therapies including medical acupuncture and pregnancy and postnatal massage.

My knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, along with my coaching experience, complements my massage therapy. I can address your immediate symptoms and develop a plan to help prevent their re-occurrence.

I have been working in the fitness and sports industry since 1998. It all started with my love for sport - mainly cycling and running. This developed into teaching exercise classes along with gym instruction, personal training and GP referral. I then moved on to sports therapy in order to take care of my clients’ mobility and injury recovery needs.

I have a Diploma in sports massage therapy, Ultrasound & Interferential Therapy from International Institute of Sports Therapy and a Diploma in Gym Instruction/Personal Training from Active IQ. I am also qualified in pregnancy and post-natal massage therapy, which enables me to treat pregnant women from the first trimester of pregnancy through to the first months of the baby’s life.

I am also a qualified Pilates teacher; I offer group classes and one-to-one sessions.

In addition to traditional massage techniques, I also offer ultrasound and interferential therapy and hot stones massage.
